{ NECKLACE COLLECTION }

The above image showcases some of my original bird inspired necklaces that I made for the Finders Keepers Markets. I attended both the Brisbane and Sydney markets in November and early December and both were great fun. I have to say – what an amazing opportunity for creatives such as myself, being able to network with other creatives and customers. So much fun!
The necklaces themselves, are created from both original art and digital prints of my illustrations.
No two necklaces are the same which makes them extra special.
Each necklace is finished with a fine cotton thread attached to a sterling sliver clasp and each pendant is protected from the natural elements with a coat of satin varnish.
These little necklaces were quite popular and I’ve already managed to sell out. However, I’m hoping to make more early in 2011 so if anyone is interested in being updated with when I will be launching another range please email me with your email address you’d like me to forward emails to: hello[at]beth-emily.com.au

The above pictures are from the Sydney Finders Keepers Markets where I shared a stall with the lovely Cat-Rabbit.

I took a picture of some clouds from the plane when I was coming back home. Pretty clouds look like marshmallows in the sky.

Well… amongst other things, I’ve managed to finish this piece – in time to sell at the Brisbane Finders Keepers Markets.
He’s the original drawing with; acrylic paint and gold paper which, you can’t really see in the photo. He’ll be for sale framed.
I’m quite fond of him so if he doesn’t sell I have the perfect wall space for him at home.
I’ll also have another original to sell at the markets but the other one is a surprise.

//It’s been a while between posts.\\
At the moment I have no laptop, it decided to die a couple of weeks ago so I haven’t had many opportunities to update my blog in my spare time. Things around here have been quite hectic too. Client work is steaming ahead, so I’ve had to concentrate on their projects and pick mine up in between.
At the moment I’m organising my bits and bobs for the November Finders Keepers markets in Brissy. I’ll make sure to post some pics of the creations. The above image is a piece I recently finished (recently I mean about 20mins ago) in time to sell at the markets.
I’ll be selling other things too:
Prints – Open and limited editions.
Cards – Packs and individual ones.
Necklaces – This is a little surprise but they are sure to have my illos on them. :)
I’m sharing a stall with the lovely Cat-Rabbit, who makes awesome plushies all by hand, might I add. We have been deliberating on how to set-up our stall, as we won’t be able to take many big heavy items due to luggage restrictions. Where both traveling from Tassie soooooo, lots of felt is my solution to decorating my stall. It’s squishy soft and light, which also translates into – fitting nicely into a suitcase.
I little while ago I entered the SOYA – Qantas Spirit Youth Awards for 2010 and when I saw that Deanne Cheuk was the mentor I was thrilled. I remember gushing over her designs and illustrations back in Art school.
As most of you know I’m a practicing graphic designer and illustrator based in Tasmania. I recently established my very own design studio Floatingworld with my two colleagues Alecia and Tom it’s been a rollercoaster – there’s been happy tears and just plain old tears -because sometimes it’s just tough running your own business. Mentor-ship with Deanne would be invaluable, not only to my creative illustration practice Beth-Emily but my design practices as well. Floatingworld is a relatively new studio and quite isolated from the rest of the nation here in Tasmania. Any professional and creative advise and/or support that I could attain would be really beneficial. Especially from someone that has such a presence in visual communication like Deanne.
I’m really EXCITED as I’m one of the top 3 finalists for the visual communications category. YAY! The other entrants are Motherbird and Maricormaricar both design studios have an individual flare in their own right. So it’s just us three now… until they announce the winners of each category on the 11th of November at the awards night.
This year SOYA is allowing a peoples choice awards so you can vote for the one you think is the most deserving to receive $2,000. I’d be awesome if you could spare sometime to vote for me but if you think another entrant is more deserving then vote for them. : )

PICK ME! ♥

So… I’ve been working on this owl for a little while now, he’s nearly complete. While working on him I rediscovered ink and graphite watercolour pencils and I’m in love.
I’m still mucking around with the composition as it’s still a little unbalanced but once that’s finalised he’ll be done, dusted and printed. He’ll be in a series of new illos for an upcoming market. I’ll be illustrating some other animals other than birds for the series. CRAZY! I know but I’m feeling adventurous.

I thought I would share a little section from an illustration that I have been working on for a client. I can’t give to much away as, we still have a few bits to finalise before it’s complete.
My computer died a couple of weeks ago R.I.P little buddy! So I haven’t really had the opportunity to post stuff. It’s been a real struggle doing work without one. I should be up and running on a brand new machine soon. YAY!
Other news, where to start I’ve been pretty busy with work, catching up with friends etc… I’m really glad to have my partner, Tom back after 5 weeks. He’s been overseas and it’s really nice to have him home. I miss the snuggles so does our cat.
i hope everyone is well and happy! xxx

I’ve been needing to do a new business card for quite some time now. So this is what I have started for it. I’d love to to a few images and have a set of business cards. Sort of like limited editions.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! I was hanging out with my mum and borrowed some cake and biscuit books. Can’t wait to find some time to make a few.
