Hummingbird Illustration

So here it is! The start of the competition Hummingbirdie.
I’m pretty happy with how this little guy is coming along.
Mind you, it’s taken me a couple of half finished sketches, that have been tossed around my studio floor (that’s my filing) and a gazillion lemongrass teas to even get to this stage.
I think at some stage it would be great to share all my half un-finished drawings, that way people can see the extent of the processes it takes to get to just this stage.
We as the public, generally only get see completed artwork by artists, illustrators and designers published in mags, books etc… And think, ‘gosh that’s impressive how BRILLIANT IS THAT ARTIST! I wish I could create amazingness like that.
But sometimes we forget that it takes, even the most respected artists, dedication, research and drawing after drawing to finish with something incredible.  I think we need to embrace all the  uncompleted drawings we do, it’s all apart of a bigger picture.  That’s one positive thing I like about the interweb (internet) it’s a great source to see share our experiences, process and methods. Blogs are fantastic for this. Lets keep sharing! Here here!
=^_^=
Yikes, rambles they were, hopefully helpful ones.
I hope everyone has a grand weekend.
I hope to get down to the Salamanca markets and buy heaps of vegies to make abundances of soup.

    Thanks Bec,

He’s certainly getting there. I hope to somehow incorporate the lovely iridescent feathers. Maybe with some little watercolour sparkles here & there.
