Kate MacDowell is a ceramists who resides in Portland. Kate’s handcrafted works are built from porcelain. Each piece of work is so intricately crafted, so delicate and fragile that it feels real. Like they exist, living and breathing in our reality.

I am truly amazed by the craftsmanship of Kate MacDowell works. It was definitely a highlight yesterday stumbling across her website. If you are interested in reading an interview that Kate participated in, head over to Lobster & Canary to find out more about the artist and her work.

Congratulations to Lauren Carney, who won the Finders Keepers art competition. The piece she submitted is amazing. I highly recommend checking out her blog and artwork!

I ended up entering, and a good thing I did as I am in the top six as a finalist. I can’t believe it, I’m so excited. My piece, of the two little love birds (please see below) will be printed onto t-shirts as part of The Finders Keepers featured artists collection and sold at the Finders Keepers events throughout the year. Yay… Congratulations is also in order for the other finalists. See here for the verdict and the other entries.

What an awesome day! Now… I shall eat pasta with fresh vegies.

The first image is a original design all hand crafted from natural materials. I’ve used semi precious stones, silk and sterling silver chain. All necklaces will be different. The brooch is also an original design and I’ll be making only 50 brooches, so get in quick as I have already sold the first 10 at a market I was recently involved in. Fun times : )

On another topic: Tonight I will be a busy bee as I have still to start my image for the finders keepers comp (see a few posts below if you’re interested). I have a concept in mind so I guess that’s a start. Oh… I hope I have time and can still sleep because I really like to sleep at night times. I’ll post the results. It may be good it may be bad. Better get some coffee just in case.

I hope everyone is having a grand weekend. Thought you’d like to know that I just uploaded some new illustrations to my etsy shop. You will find open edition and limited (20 prints) editions.  Click here & enjoy. I’ll be updating my shop over the week so stick around. x

The pictures above showcase some of the new accessories that I have been designing. The influence is ‘all things underwater’. Inspired by coral, fish and all things natural and organic. The materials used in the range are; freshwater pearls, silk, felt, semi precious stones, wood and sterling silver chain.

*The pearl necklace is made from alderwood, fresh water pearls that have been stitched on to a felt backing, finished with a fine sterling silver chain.
*The little fishy brooch is made from laser cut alderwood, finished with cotton stitching. (He will be in a collection of 50 pieces.) So get in quick!

Each will be available in my etsy store so stay tuned and I will let you know when I have uploaded the pics. I have a few more products to snap, I hope to have them in my store mid week. : )

I’ll be selling the new prints posted below and a range of accessories that I have been working on. The accessories are made all from natural materials, fresh water pearls, semi precious stones, sterling silver chain, 100 % silk. All I can say at this stage is that I have been influenced by coral and fish. (Oh my… not birds I hear you all say)! I’ll be sure to post some pictures, I still have to finish a few odd and bobs before I post pics. : )

Yay! Finally finished one of my illustrations. I have been working on this lady for the last couple of months, when I got the opportunity to draw. Frantic times: Christmas, business, work, work, work! All rewarding : ) I’ll have this image printed and ready for a local market (ODD + EVEN) which makes me excited. However, I will let you know when my etsy shop is up and running again. I will have this piece and some other surprises. x
