Harry Whittier was a photographer from the late 17th, early 18th Century. He treated the subjects in his photography humanely. Most of the animals were is own pets. My favourite would have to be the little kitten painting the house. Awwww!

Another Little Birdy

June 23rd, 2009 | 0 comments

This is the second original birdy that I will be framing and selling at the O+E craft market this Saturday. I’m pretty excited to be selling my illustrations and it will be a relief to be around people. I’ve been bundled up recently with a massive inflated head as I recently had my wisdom teeth pulled out. Might I add OUCH! OUCH! OUCH! I will also add that I’m a tad sick of fighting our cat for the warmest place in the house as she often wins. Tricky kitten up to kitten tricks.

I absolutely adore these photos of  Abbey Lee Kershaw and Imogen Morris Clarke. The Neo-romantic images were shot by Photographer Emma Summerton for Vogue Italia in June.

Take Two

New Original

In this image I have used heavier/brighter coloured pencils. I have focused mainly around the bird in the hope that this will bring the bird out from the background a little more than in the previous post. I’m pretty happy with the results. But I might sleep on it and have a look at my image tomorrow. Because I’m not certain if I’m delirious as it is very well past my bedtime.

Original Illustration in the works!

Birdy Original

This is an original illustration that I have been working on for Odd and Even, which is a delightful little craft market that supports local crafty types, such as myself. This will be the first time that I will be involved and I can’t wait!

Inspiration

June 10th, 2009 | 0 comments

I thought I would share some of my favourite images from two Artists that I admire. These images make me what to get back into painting and working with messy materials. Maybe if I do, I will post some of my experiments up so you can have a look!Artist; Belinda Fox

Belinda Fox. Search-Light IV 2005, mixed media on paper 170 x 240cm. I love Belinda’s work you should definitely check it out!

brad-durham1

Brad Durham, I admire the way he depicts natures sublime beauty and grace. He really seems to encapsulate these qualities in his chosen subject right through to the way he applys the paint to the surface of the canvas. Unfortunately, that’s all I can provide as I don’t know the name of this particular image, does anyone else know the name of this image?

Issue 16 of Blanket magazine is now out. Download your copy now!

Last month I submitted one of my original illustrations to Blanket magazine. The theme for this issue was portraiture, so I submitted my most recent piece Lost Memories (see above).
Congratulations to Bec (Editor, Art Director, Publisher) and the rest of the blanketeers, they have done an amazing job yet again. The magazine is packed with amazing illustrations, photography, design and quirky articles. Check it out: Blanket Magazine
What is even more exciting is that I got to do an interview for their blog. I can’t wait to see it posted and read the other interviews.

HELLO SHINY WORLD!

June 2nd, 2009 | 0 comments

Hello world, welcome to my blog – Yay! I can’t express how excited I am about having my very own blog. Now, I get to share musings on my processes, work and things that inspire me. I also hope to showcase other wonderful artists and designers. And sometimes, when your lucky, I’ll post a ‘Ninny update‘ – (Ninny is my cat, who currently looks like a pigmy lion because of her fluffy winter mane). xox
